Governors Update

We would like to update you on the work that we have been involved in over the Spring Term.

Our continuing focus has been to support the Interim Headteacher, Mrs Foyle and the Interim Assistant Headteacher, Mrs McGaw, in their roles. The transition into their leadership has been very smooth and we would like to acknowledge their dedication and hard work.

There has been an election for a new Staff Governor. We are pleased to welcome Mrs Webb, one of the school’s Learning Support Assistants, to the Board.

We are enjoying working more closely with the governors from Stourfield Junior School now that we are both within the same Multi-Academy Trust. We all visited the junior school during one of our training mornings and had the opportunity to speak to staff and governors. Working together in this way helps us to consider consistency for pupils when we make strategic decisions for the schools. We look forward to welcoming the governors of the junior school, into the infant school, for a visit during the Summer Term.

Both Chairs have also been involved in meetings with Senior Leaders from both schools to discuss ways to further improve the transition for pupils as they move from the infant school to the junior school.

Governors have specific areas of interest, such as Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Special Educational Needs and Disadvantaged Children. Governors have individually visited the school to discuss their areas of responsibility with Senior Leaders. This opportunity for an in-depth discussion is very valuable.

We have considered the very positive outcomes from both an external safeguarding review and learning reviews undertaken by Twynham Learning.

We will update you again on our work at the end of the Summer Term.

As ever, please feel free to contact our Governance Manager (hayley.upton@stourfieldinfants.com) if you have any questions about our work.
